Classical Management Theory and Human Relations Theory

The systematic development of management thinking is viewed, generally, as spanning from the end of the nineteenth century with the emergence of large industrial organizations. Management theories consist of two group—classical management theory and human relations theory. In this essay, the nature of the â€Å"Classical† and â€Å"Human Relations† approaches to management will be described at first and then bring out the differences and similarities between them. The classical theory of management was formed in the early 20th century and based on a pyramid, formal structure. To be more precise, it puts an emphasis on technical requirements of the organisation, common principles as well as hierarchy of management. There are three well-established†¦show more content†¦In this sense, human relations theory is about humanization as technique. Finally, classical management theory avoided ‘informal groups’, but the human relations movement supported There is no denying that both theories exert profound influence of company’s management. For instance, McDonald Corporation takes the idea of classical management theory. Work force of McDonald Corporation is divided into different jobs. More exactly, probably divides employees up into chefs, people serving, people frying, people packing the burgers, and maybe some one on the drive through. That is to say, different people are now doing different things on the production line; therefore the worker become good at what they are doing, make production more efficient and little training needed. Yet at the mean time, many problems have arisen, the main reason for this is that the worker may becomes monotonous with what they are doing and have lower job satisfaction (which can lead to lower productivity) ,as well as they may eventfully be replaced by machinery. As for the theory of human relations, this can be best illustrated with the example of Tavistock Institute in London which undertook to study the work of coal miners. Tavistock Institute understood that job simplification and specialization did not augment productivity but giving more autonomy to the work group in organising their work shift, did produce betterShow MoreRelatedClassical And Human Relations Management Theory1504 Words   |  7 Pagesa report based on the classical and human relations management theorist. Literary Analyisis- She Was a Phantom of Delight Essay

Analyzing One of the Greatest The Romantic time period began in the 1700s and ended around the mid nineteenth century. This is where William Wordsworth began to shine his talents of astonishing poetry. One poem in particular is written for his wife, Mary, â€Å"She Was a Phantom of Delight†. The goal of this paper is to explain how the Romantic Era influenced William Wordsworth in his poem, â€Å"She Was a Phantom of Delight†. To begin, â€Å"She Was a Phantom of Delight† was written by, William Wordsworth. He was born April 7, 1770, Cockermouth, Cumberland, England. Wordsworth early learned to love nature, including the pleasures of walking and outdoor play. He equally enjoyed his formal education, demonstrating a talent for writing poetry. (4: 1705).†¦show more content†¦His accomplishments were achieved by using the criteria of form, word choice, and images. The form of â€Å"She Was a Phantom of Delight† is continuous; Wordsworth uses form to distinguish the period of development of his perspectives of his wife over time. The first stanza of 10 lines describe his wife in the beginning of their relationship, the second is describing his perspective of when e pet her on a more personal level. The third stanza is describing his clear perception of who Mary is. Another criteria, William used to succeed is purpose is word choice. For example, He uses â€Å"Phantom of Delightâ€Å"(Wordsworth, 1) to describe she seemed to be too perfect to be real, which intrigued him to meeting her. Also, when he â€Å"saw her upon nearer view†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (11) this is when he finally meets her then he describes â€Å"her household motions light and free†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (13) this is describing that he sees her as a wife, doing household duties. Lastly, when he says â€Å"and now I see with eye serene / The very pulse of the machine† (21-22) he uses these words to describe she is which is a hardworking, independent woman. One other criterion, used by Wordsworth to dignify the purpose of this poem is external images. In the first and last stanzas, he uses words to create a visualization of how she is in the time period of their relationship. For example, â€Å"A dancing shape, an image gay, / To haunt, to startle, and waylay† (9- 10) which

Habitat for Humanity (Speech) Essay Example For Students

Habitat for Humanity (Speech) Essay An estimated 5.1 million American households face worst-case housing needs, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Receiving little or no government housing assistance, these families are unable to find a decent place to live at a price they can afford to pay. They are also forced to pay more than half their income for housing, endure overcrowded conditions and live in houses with severe physical deficiencies, and thats just in the U.S.; worldwide more than 2 billion people live in poverty housing. While the number of families in poverty is growing, the number of affordable rental units is shrinking, and most families who qualify for government housing assistance arent receiving any aid. Working in partnership with low-income families to build decent homes they can afford to buy, Habitat for Humanity helps to break the cycle of poverty and hopelessness. By the end of 2005, more than 1 million people worldwide will live in decent, affordable Habitat for Humanity houses. Ive been researching HFH for about 2 months now because I am planning to join during the summer and Ive realized that the need for decent, affordable housing is great and HFH helps fill that need. Today Im going to tell you why HFH is needed, how HFH helps, why you should get involved and what you can do to help. First Ill tell you why its needed. Next Slide MORE THAN 11 MILLION AMERICANS FACE WORST-CASE NEEDS According to a report prepared for Congress in 2003 by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), 5. 1 million American households face worst-case housing needs. These families: are renters receiving no government assistance; make less than 50 percent of the area median income; pay more than 50 percent of their income for rent and utilities and/or live in housing with severe physical deficiencies; include some 3.6 million children, 1.6 million elderly adults and 1.3 million disabled adults. Worldwide, the need is even greater. Some 2 billion people worldwide live in poverty housing. More than 1 billion live in urban slums, and that figure is expected to double by 2030. Many of these people earn less than US$2 per day. Housing problems have far-reaching consequences. The high cost of housing leaves low-income families little money for other basic necessities like food, clothing or health care. Substandard housing can endanger the health and safety of its occupants, erode their hope and self-worth, and impair their childrens ability to succeed in school. Next Slide Affordable Housing Statistics THE UNITED STATES HOUSING NEED IS GREAT More than 30 million U.S. households face one or more of the following housing problems: Cost burdens: paying an excessively large percentage of income on housing costs. More than 13 million households pay more than 50 percent of their income for housing. Overcrowding: the number of people living in the house is greater than the total number of rooms in the house. About 6. 1 million households live in overcrowded conditions. Physical inadequacy: severe physical deficiencies, such as having no hot water, no electricity, no toilet, or neither a bathtub nor a shower. One out of every seven poor families lives in severely physically inadequate housing. GOVERNMENT AID IS NOT HELPING MOST OF THOSE IN NEED Of the 30 million households with housing problems, 14.5 million qualify for government aid, yet only 4.1 million are actually receiving any. In fact, most of the U.S. governments housing subsidies do not benefit the poor. For example, in 1995, homeowners earning more than $100,000 per year received a total of $28.9 billion in federal income tax deductions on mortgage interest payments. By comparison, the entire 1999 budget of HUD was only $25 billion. .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 , .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .postImageUrl , .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 , .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:hover , .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:visited , .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:active { border:0!important; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:active , .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72 .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u869292e2e82537d6954259c2e75b2f72:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Three Reasons Against Gun Control EssayAFFORDABLE HOUSING IS GETTING HARDER TO FIND For every 100 very low-income renters, only 76 affordable rental units are currently available.
