A Comparison of The Pardoners Tale and Beowulf :: comparison compare contrast essays

The Importance of The Pardoners Tale and Beowulf   literary history is a history of the major literary traditions, movements, works, and authors of a country, region, etc. (Barber 837). The judgement of literary history allows us perceptiveness into the past, a recognition of diachronic events and tensions written into the works of those who witnessed them. By including societal behaviors, semipolitical tensions, and common folklore, historical authors have indirectly provided the reader with a broader and deeper understanding of the literature and the period in which it was written. Besides insight into collective societal culture, literary history has provided future writers with models of poetic device, style and content influencing literary works and building upon past literary ideas. literary history is a vehicle to understanding the past and plays a major role in its influence on literature up to and including the acquaint day. Knowledge of historical literature gives us insight into the traditions and societal conventions of the time in which the piece was written. unmatchable outstanding example comes from Anglo-Saxon times. Beowulf is a literary work which enables a reader to glimpse not only the societal customs but into the savage and seemingly un looklable environment of the first century. Literary historian, Raymond Chambers points out that in the compress amongst Grendel and Beowulf it appears as though Grendel is articulation of the degraded form of human life attempting to gain power by dint of violence, in his attempt to overthrow Hrothgar and take interpret of Heorot he is fatally wounded by Beowulf. Beowulf is a character who exemplifies the collective societal agreement as to the role of a hero and his duty to control a seemingly ungovernable environment (Chambers 46). The Beowulf poet describes Grendel and Beowulf as Both ..enraged, fury filled, the two who meant to control the hall. (Beowulf 36). The fight for control of the hall could be seen as representative of the struggle between good and evil or perhaps the control of the king over an rebellious people. Taking into account Mr. Chambers explanation of Grendel, a reader may also reason that the dragon symbolizes a threat from outside the human realm. One notes that the dragon is not given the humanistic qualities of Grendel, he has no kin and appears to have no mortal thoughts. Due to his lack of humanistic characteristics, the reader may believe that the dragon is less representative of a human threat such as an enemy warrior, etc.A Comparison of The Pardoners Tale and Beowulf comparison compare contrast essaysThe Importance of The Pardoners Tale and Beowulf   Literary history is a history of the major literary traditions, movements, works, and authors of a country, region, etc. (Barber 837). The Chosen Review :: essays research papers

History plays a large role in shaping the character of Rueven and Dannys characters because they each have strong eldritch fathers that laid a foundation for them, their respective religions have very different roots, and they find that they have differences from these religions. Both Rueven and Danny have spiritual giants for fathers. While Ruevens father is not as well respected or as well known as Reb Saunders, he is both bit as caring and spiritual. Mr. Malter has raised Rueven in the Jewish fashion and has taught him to love God. The love that Mr. Malter shows Rueven is evident when Rueven is at the hospital. When Rueven finally wakes up, his father is so excited that he rushes everyplace without even preparing himself. His sparse gray hair lay uncombed on his head. That was unusual for my father. I never remembered him leaving the house without carefully combing his hair. In addition, Mr. Malter developed a cough and got sick, probably attributed to excessive worrying over Rueven. Reb Saunders also loves his son, but has a hard succession showing it. Since, Danny and his father never speak unless they are studying it is a very strained and painful relationship for Danny. Reb Saunders is known all over the Jewish community for being a strong spiritual advisor to all the Hassid and Danny is expected to take his place. Reb Saunders position as rabbi is something of a family dynasty and it has at rest(p) on for many generations. Danny has been groomed to become the next rabbi since he was a child. All of this seems too much for Danny and it seems that he just wants to escape his destiny and conk out a normal life. The roots of Rueven and Dannys churches also play a role in their characters. Rueven is an orthodox Jew, and thus comes from very strict values. Rueven is expected to pray many times a day and to study the Talmud frequently. In addition, he eats kosher food, always observes Shabbat and follows Jewish law reverently. He is very sheepfold and hopes to be a rabbi someday. On the other hand, Danny comes from an even more demanding sect of Judaism. The Hasids have similar beliefs to the Orthodox Jews but hold to even stricter codes of conduct. One of the things that bent grass the Hasids apart from other sects is their dependence on the tzaddikim or spiritual leaders of their communities.

The Evolution of Religion Essay -- Philosophy Religion Essays

The Evolution of ReligionNear the closing curtain of his novel, Darwins Dangerous Idea, Daniel Dennett questions religion and contends that it was an evolutionary process to keep cosmos entertained. He says they religions pass kept valet Sapiens civilized enough, for long enough, for us to defy learned how to reflect more systematically and accurately on our position of the universe(519). Dennetts position is a controversial one, and it is difficult to argue because it is such an digest subject. Religion is associated with free will, and has been part of humans for thousands of years. Is religion as we know it useless now, have we arrived at the point in evolution where it is no seven-day necessary?Dennett n eer completely dismisses current religion, but he does not support its perpetuation either. Dennetts count of religion is as function, something that humans need, like apposable thumbs. He claims that religion has become merely about the actions, and that soon they will di e out and kick the bucket in museums and zoos. Dennett elaborates this thought, what, then, of all the glories of our religious traditions? They should certainly be preserved, as should the languages, the art, the costumes the rituals, the monuments(519). Is this right? Should only the material aspects be saved? Have they served their only purpose. Dennett seems to say that humans no longer need religions, and that since they have existed for so long they are no longer needed, it is their time for extinction. The major religions today have been in existence for thousands of years, but that does not mean that they will not evolve. As people and husbandry change, so will the worlds religions. People will forever have faith, and humans have not achieved a point in evolution where religion is no longer needed, and it is highly unlikely that it will ever reach that point. Fly Away Peter by David Malouf :: Fly Away Peter David Malouf

Fly Away Peter by David Malouf is a powerful warfargon story in which the author has used contrasting settings and strong symbolism to clearly portray his own ideas and opinions of war, and further the lectors understanding of the text. Jim is an innocent young man, sustentation on the coast of Queensland. In this peaceful town, e trulybody is happy and at peace with themselves and with nature. The people enjoy the simple pleasures of conduct - nature, birds, and friendly neighbourly conversations. Their days are filled with peaceful walks in the bush, bird watching and fishing. Jim and his friends especially enjoy the serenity of the sanctuary and the wonders of nature that it holds. When the war breaks out, this tranquil little town seems interchangeable the last place on earth that could produce a team of vicious, violent soldiers. Soon we see Jim thrown into a completely contrasting sphere, rise of violence and fighting, and the strong dissimilarity between his hometown and this new war-stricken country is emphasised. The fact that the original setting is so diversely opposite to that if the war setting, the harsh reality of the horror of war is demonstrated. The birds show symbolism in more than one way throughout the text. As the soldiers are travelling from all over the world to fight for their countries in the war, the birds are similarly migrating for the change of seasons. The birds however, will all be returning, and many of the soldiers will never return home again. This is a very powerful message, which helps the reader to understand the loss and sorrow that is experienced through war. Even when Jim is in this awful war-stricken place, one thing that he can nonoperational find comfort in, and which reminds him of his peaceful home is the birds, which are everywhere, still living their lives unaffected by mans war. This shows how nature is unaltered by mans cruel antics against other man, and how life and nature must, and will go on through all circumstances. The symbol of earth also shows significant symbolism in different parts of the text. When Jim is dying, and begins to hallucinate, the achievement he sees of men digging in the earth represents the fact that Jim feels like he is finally escaping the war - which in one way, he is - and going home. This helps the reader to understand how passionately Jim wants to be out of the war and back at home, how many of the soldiers would have felt during the war.

Winning the Fight against Super Bugs

The term antibiotics refers to substances that kill bacteria or prevent their growth. Antibiotics argon natural substances that are released by bacteria and fungi into their environment to fight other organisms. The use of antibiotics by organisms therefore represents chemical warfare on a microscopic scale. The employment of antibiotics was discovered by Sir Alexander Fleming in 1928 when he observed that colonies of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus could be destroyed by the mould Penicillium notatum. The significance of the baring was however not realized at that time, and it was only in the 1940s when Howard Florey and Ernst Chain isolated the active ingredient and developed the substance in its powdery form, that it was realized that penicillin and other antibiotics could be used as very effective medicines to kill certain types of disease-causing bacteria within the human body. Bacterial infections can be fatal, especially for young children and babies who do not have adequa te immunity.Labeled as the wonder drug, the use of antibiotics to combat bacterial infections resulted in a significant diminution in the deaths due infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and pneumonia. Antibiotics are not only used to used to treat human ailments but similarly bacterial infections in plants and animals. After having been effectively used for almost half a century, a new challenge loomed up in front of populace in the form of bacteria that turned resistant to antibiotics. These bacteria are known as the superbugs. Natural antibiotics have probably existed as long as microorganisms have.Certain types of bacteria have therefore undergone adaptation and mutation to overcome the action of antibiotics. These bacteria have learnt to deal with practically all types of antibiotics that are available. They pose a serious problem in the form of diseases that cannot be treated with any medicines. As antibiotics treatment of bacterial infections continues, the number and v ariety of super bugs are keep back to increase. It could eventually come to a pass when bacterial infections become as fatal as they were in the days before the discovery of antibiotics. This could lead to a depicted scenario in which the very existence of humankind could be threatened. There is, however, good news. A research led by Dr Adrian Lloyd of the University of Warwicks Department of biologic Sciences has succeeded in unraveling how the super bug Streptococcus pneumoniae develops its penicillin immunity (University of Warwick, 2008). This finding opens up many new avenues of disrupting the process of study of resistance to antibiotics by the Streptococcus pneumoniae specifically and other super bugs in general. This could enable scientists to restore penicillin as a weapon against these bacteria, as well as restore the efficacy of other types of antibiotics against their single bacteria. Essentially the study found that a protein called the MurM was at the root of the dev elopment of resistance to antibiotics by the bacteria. Very simply put, Penicillin normally kills off the S. pneumoniae by inhibiting the geological formation of Peptidoglycan an essential component of the bacterial cell wall which protects the otherwise fragile bacterial cell. When Peptidoglycan is not produced, the protective cell wall of the bacteria is not form leading to the death of the organism. It had been observed that the protein MurM was linked to changes in the chemical makeup of the Peptidoglycan that was found in penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. The protein MurM has been found to lead to the formation of position structures known as the dipeptide bridges in the peptidoglycan resulting in the formation of a bacterial cell wall that is resistant to penicillin. The Warwick team were able to replicate the use of MurM in a test tube, allowing them to define the chemistry of the MurM reaction in detail and understand every key step of how Streptococcus pneumon iae deploys MurM to gain this resistance. (University of Warwick, 2008). This get out enable the Warwick team and any other pharmaceutical researchers to zero in on MurM reaction in the Streptococcus pneumoniae and develop drugs to disrupt the process of development of resistance to penicillin. The result could be designer penicillin antibiotics to be deployed effectively against penicillin resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. Since the same mechanism works in the development of resistance to antibiotics in other bacteria such as MRSA, the findings of the Warwick University research could open up more fronts in the fight against antibiotic resistant bacteria. Moreover, the researchers have been able to quick reproduce every stage of formation of the peptidoglycan required by the Streptococcus pneumoniae to build up its penicillin-resistant cell wall. This provides pharmaceutical companies different levels at which to contend the process of development of antibiotic resistance that could lead to the invention of an array of modified penicillin for penicillin resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae. The significance of the new findings can be gauged from the situation that Streptococcus pneumonia causes 5 million fatalities worldwide in children. In the United States, it is the cause of infection in 1 million elderly out of which 7% end in fatalities. In every day life the finding can be related to arming a conventional missile with a thermonuclear warhead. The enemy in this case are the bacteria, and the war is not for the annihilation for the survival of humanity. References -01 University of Warwick (2008, March 15). Heidi Roizen

1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Roizens network at the stamp out of the case? Heidi Roizen has invested conviction and effort in developing and sustaining descents/networks in the computer industry, especially in the Silicon Valley area, throughout her professional career. As she moves into her venture capitalist utilization, her networking efforts ask the following strengths Includes executives including CEOs, thereby giving her the experience of interacting with these business leaders.Since she has established affinitys with many and her credibility is proven, which is an important criterion for business leaders this is a sarcastic skill in her tonic role. Since she is non only well known in the internet industry that is also well respected, her joining Softbank provides official feedback about the new group making it an attractive opportunity for many. Her current role is different from her prior jobs in that it requires making go/no-go financial backing decisions about start-up companies rather than establish a network of contact to help develop the business she was involved in.This fundamental difference in her role exit put strains on her enormous network as well as herself. Namely- Reject projects from her acquaintances. Even though she has been making concerted efforts to reach out to those unnatural by these adverse decisions, there is a good possibility that some mass forget let these decision impact their personal/professional relationships with her. Since, she is in truth values her relationships a lot I imagine such issues result ostracizely affect her at a personal level. This has the potential of having a negative impact on her credibility in the industry Trying to manage her network will put constraints on her professional and/or personal life. As she mentions that she spends two hours per day sending out rejection nones, I believe for her to be able to sustain this she will need to put in extra hours at work or compromise the quality of work. Create internal conflict for herself by deviating from her philosophy of helping others when it is a mutually beneficial situation for both, since in her current role she is feeling pressured to help people by referring them to the companies she is tied with. 2) What specific steps did Roizen take to develop her network? To maintain it? Heidi Roizen is a very well know business leader in the computer industry sector, especially in Silicon Valley. During the course of her career she has built a vast network of connections. The basic reason for her vast network can be attributed to her innate extrovert and high energy personality coupled with a hope to interact and help people with high caliber and engaging personalities. In addition, she was also required to cultivate relationships to support the software company, T/Maker, which she co-founded in the archaeozoic phase of her career. The primary objective was to market the companys product. Her strate gies towards developing relationships included Follow the what can I offer approach. In her interactions with people she think carefully on how to help their projects/needs. During her time at Tandem, she had opportunity to work with the companys CEOs and through her approach she built relationships with the CEO. Her relationship benefited her professionally as he recommended her for the Stanford MBA program. Identify organizations and people that will help her initiatives and engage them through meaningful contributions in their activities. To promote her company, T/Maker, Heidi networked with the press, the software enterprisers forums and the software publishers association. Through her contributions she has established sustainable relationships, as is evident by the glowing reviews paid to her by business leaders such as Brian Gentile of eALITY Inc. Trust her judgments on the caliber of person she associates with rather than their position in the organization. The paper gives instances where she built relationships with smart, interesting and good quality people who later become senior executives in their companies. Relationships are built on a combination of professional- social interactions. She is known to get regular parties at her house. She used these events not only to build her relationships but also provide networking opportunities to her guests. Heidi gives a lot of importance to her relationships and is consequently very conscientious in sustaining them. To maintain her network, she believes in tint of the interaction rather than quantity. She leverages her relationships after much thought, for e. g. higher up in the organization her contact is, fewer times she would contact that individual for favor. Focus on been consistent in the relationship. She emphasizes cosmos consistent in her actions while dealing with friends. Ensuring there is reciprocity in the relationship i. e. , there is a balance betwixt the times she is asking for help ve rsus helping that particular individual out. ? 3) How does your own network compare with Roizens? To what extent are the differences due to the political bodily structure in the networks assist? To what extent are the differences due to the personal preferences and style? As I compare my social/professional network to Heidi Roizens, one of the biggest differences is the turning of people we know-my LinkedIn contact list is at 100+ while I guess Heidis would be 500+ category. After going through this word I have realized the significance networking can have on ones profession and moving forward will like to The commonalities between our relationships include Quality of interactions rather than quantity.I have some very good friends whom I only fall upon once/twice per year yet the relationship has been sustained. Relationships have to be on an even footing. I make concerted efforts to ensure reciprocity is maintained from my end. There have been occasions in the medieval where I have discontinued relationships when I felt the other individual was always asking for help. Some differences that occur in our relationships are Heidi is very social and has parties almost every weekend in her house. This is not the case at my place. There is a very strong emphasis in her life on networking, which is not the case for me. She seems to invest time in relationships with the function of leveraging them for future benefit either for herself or other acquaintances. This becomes clear at the end of the case during her time Softbank she referred people to organizations that will help her business interest. In my case, relationships can sometimes be used to exchange ideas or just have fun without the intent of obtaining any benefit. I am generally not looking to bring people together for mutual benefit. She makes an effort of meeting new people through attending trade shows, participating in conference etc.In my role, I have opportunity to attend technical conferences but my primary intent there is to acquire knowledge rather than meet new people. In my opinion one of the biggest reasons for the differences is our personality type. She is an out-going, high energy person with a rage for meeting new people. This means that interacting and meeting new people provides her with fuel to get recharged in life. I am an introvert who enjoys meeting people but feel drained after these experiences and need alone/close family time to recharge. In addition, differences between Heidi and me can also be attributed to our professions. Since she has primarily worked as entrepreneurs/business developer, my role is to develop manufacturing processes. I believe there is a fundamental difference between these roles, her job needs interacting with a large number of people whereas in my case knowledge about the processes is more important. ? 4) What suggestions would you give Roizen for adjusting and maintaining her network as she became more involved as an internet ventu re capitalist?I will give her the following suggestions She should not try to sustain every relationship that she has established over the years. She should create of priority list of people and maintain relationships with those who meet her basic requirement of being smart and good quality as well are value added in her new role. She has to juggle three vituperative roles family, work and network management. If she focuses excessively much on trying to maintain her network, there is a high probability that one or both of the others will suffer. She should focus on creating some relationships with people who are not in the same industry sector as her. This will be in synchronise with her outgoing personality and fulfill her need to interact with people while not creating expectations/pressures in her profession. In the paper, it is obvious that many of the proposals, including meeting requests, being submitted are from with her network. Since most of these are being rejected and even though she is being very professional in rejecting these, it should be expected that some of these rejections are not well received. The negative reactions emanating from these may create stress for her and hamper her professional and personal life. She should also delegate the rejection letters to her subordinates as she seems to be spending too much time on them and this is taking away from her work time that may be detrimental for her career. Since, her current role is different from her past roles of being an entrepreneur/business developer there is limited need for keeping a very large network.

The Hobbit Novel Review

I believe that this novel presents important themes that are relevant in todays society, Just as much as they bedevil up an entertaining plot. Themes such as Heroism, Race and Lineage, Good vs.. Evil, Loyalty and Home are discussed In novels written in recent times. They give the reviewer a strong sense of right and Wrong in the plot. This in allows the audience to distinguish between candid and evil. Tolkien uses an enormous vocabulary of words that are not commonly used in more recent novels. His use of vocabulary dates the evolve, introducing an other worldly tone to the novel. Although the novel is set in present tense, on that point Is a whim of recounting. The omniscient narrator Is sophisticated but subtle. The unknown narrator is not immediately obvious to the reader but It becomes clear that the narrator is Bilbo In a future time. Instilling hope into the reader as Bilbo must have survived his quest in order to be narrating the story. The setting of The Hobbit is in n ub Earth a setting created by Tolkien.Middle Earth is home to galore(postnominal) different races of creatures Hobbies, Dwarves, Men. Rocs, Rusk-Ha, Wizards, Goblins and numerous more. The novel begins with a tranquil feeling and transcends to a feeling of lurking danger. There is no safe place In Middle Earth, not even the Shire. The tone of the novel gives the sense of unknown danger and suspense which captures the reader and encourages them to last out reading for the next plot twist may be on the next page. The Hobbyists plot leaves no stone unturned and leaves nothing to be desired.Tolkien explores all possible aspects of the story that he has created. He has created a whole accent to every harasser and there are definite links between the characters background and the characters personality. Every piece of writing has a purpose and there is no confusion as to the topic of the chapter. Every chapter has a new problem to be solved and there is never a dull moment or a weakne ss in the plot. Toolkits writing style Is extremely unique. Tolkien portrayed his Imaginations of the settings and situations in the novel with extreme detail, using a large vocabulary.A major part of his writing style includes poetry. Tolkien introduces poetry into the novel and it is a ajar part of the plot. Tolkien wrote songs and poems that many have marveled at and enjoyed within and outside of The Hobbit. These traits of Toolkits writing techniques have separated him from other authors and their novels. J. R. R Tolkien has created an excellent novel whose themes have been repeated in many books and novels after the creation of The Hobbit. It Is a classic tale of Good vs.. Evil with a new twist. This book Is a successful prequel to Toolkits Lord of The Rings and it get out continue to prosper and inspire others for many years into the future. Theme The Hobbit, by J. R. R Tolkien features a number of implicit and explicit themes throughout the novel. For example, the theme of Ra ce, heredity and Moral Fiber Is one of the main explicit themes in this novel. This is based on the Idea that Elves, Dwarves, Men, Trolls and Goblins all have defining physical characteristics as vigorous as personality traits and moral grounding and that they all fight for what they want. Each race of character has a moral distinction and it is easy to ascertain which t aside character is on the protagonists side or the antagonists s taint ideas run alongside the thought process of one character creation evil and another being good, such as Goblins are disharmonious with nature and Elves are harmonious with nature. heredity is also an important theme to be recognized as it is the seat for much of the story involving all the characters. Bilbo Bagging is half Took and half Bagging. The Took family were known for being more adventurous than other hobbies and for unusual behavior. And the other half of Bilbo was Bagging, who were medium and respectful two opposites. Without the kn owledge of the Took family Ewing adventurous, Bilbo would never had been convinced to leave the Shire with the Dwarves, as he would have left his comfort zone completely. The Dwarves Heredity and downslope are a major factor in The Hobbit. Because the Dwarves were attacked by Smug the Dragon and because the Elves did not help the Dwarves when they were in need, they lived their lives in contempt. This meant that when Gangland led the Dwarves to the Elves of Riverside, there was an outcry. The happenings and history between the Smug and the Dwarves also fired their motivation to continue down the rd path to reach the dragon and to stop at nothing until they were reimbursed for what they had lost. Race, Heredity and Moral Fiber is an explicit theme this is obvious due to the lack of confusion between the races of each character and the unmistakable side that they are on and whether it is Hobbies, Wizards, Goblins or Elves. Character Analysis prickle son of Train is the leader of the Dwarves that embark on the treasure quest the main plotting of the novel. Thorn is brave, stubborn and proud. After Gangland leaves the experience in Thorns responsibility it comes clear the Thorn is not the most effective leader. Thorn makes poor decisions under pressure and relies on Bilbo to save the day. In addition, when the Dwarves at last receive Smug gold, Thorn is willing to go back on his oath to reward each Dwarf with their share of gold and keep it for himself. When Thorn had access to the gold he became extremely greedy and obsessed with it. Despite his dishonesty and greediness, Thorn is still brave and proud Dwarf with many good qualities among bad ones. Bilbo Bagging of Bag-End is the protagonist of The Hobbit.Bilbo is small in size, respectable and not-at-all adventurous. Bilbo has a strong sense of home and family, honesty, generosity and modesty. Bilbo is the hero of the novel, although he is small in stature, anxious and not very intimidating, Bilbo turns out to be the most heroic, clever and fast-thinking member of the company. Bilbo also possesses more leader-like qualities than that of Thorn the appointed leader of the company. Bilbo saved the Dwarves a countless amount of times in the novel and his achievements did not change him he still remained as humble of a character as he was in the start of the novel.

What factors do you think make some organizations ineffective at managing emotions? Firstly, I think that the complex human thinking is bingle of the factors that make the organizations unattackable to manage the emotions. Every person has his or her own emotions. Although in a corresponding situation, they may not act in the same way. Thus, the organizations face difficulties when they are dealing with their employees. This worry is eventide becoming worse when the organisation is very large and contains many employees from different background.Furthermore, the authority of an organisation sometimes finds out they themselves grassnot control their own emotions as hearty. Besides, due to the business culture and etiquette which are still remain poorly in some of the organisations, it becomes a problem for the organisations to manage the emotions effectively. Some of the organisations have not practised the suitable business culture. For example, they will yell and shout at th e employees when things go wrong just standardised the second case mentioned. This shows that some of the organisations still do not concern to manage the emotions effectively. Moreover, emotions are automatic physiological responses to the environment. It will be very hard for one to control his or her emotions by hiding their straightforward feelings within their heart. It revealed automatically. Even people that are trying to cover their true emotions can be discovered from their facial expression. Thus, this is not the fault that the organisations cannot manage the emotions effectively. This is because it is not an easy work to control the emotions of whole organisations. 2. Do you think the strategic use and let out of emotions serve to protect employees, or does covering your true emotions at work lead to more problems than it solves? By covering ones emotions can sometimes ensure a work to be do perfectly. However, people that are always covering their own emotions will alw ays find themselves in a stressful situation and they are very hard to communicate with others.Consequently, that kind of people can be easily frustrated and lose their confidence in their jobs. Problems such as unsatisfied towards the jobs, depression, low job performance and so on will then arise. At the end, it creates more problems than what it wants to solve at first. finished the strategic use and display of emotions, the employees can express their emotions in a manner way. They have to know the ways to control their emotions even though they are working in a nasty situation. After that, they can voice up the problems that they are facing to the higher authority. In my opinion, this is even better than hiding the true emotion because the whole organisations can look into the problems deeply and try to come out with a solution. 3. Have you ever worked where emotions were used as lead off of a management style? Describe the advantages and disadvantages of this approach in your experience. Yes, in order to finish the task given, emotions are always being used as part of a management style. For example, as a primary teacher, he or she has to pretend to be angry when the students do not listen to the instructions even though the teacher may not be really losing the temper.Besides, as salesperson, they still have to put on their smiling mask even though the customers will always criticise their products. It is unavoidable to use emotions as part of a management style. The advantages are the goals or objectives of the work can be done smoothly and without any obstacles. Besides, the emotions that used as a management style can sometimes create conflicts which are not necessary bad things. Employees can share their problems and opinions with each others. However, these conflicts have to be solved in a short time before they become more destructive. The disadvantages are by utilise this method is the employees emotion fluctuates from time to time can create var iation in job performance. Sometimes, they may not control their emotion very well and thus affect their job. Moreover, the negatives and controllings emotions can distract workers and then reduce their job performance. They are not too focusing on their jobs due to the reasons of facing excited dilemma. 4. Research shows that acts of co-workers (37%) and management (22%) cause more negative emotions for employees than do acts of customers (7%).What can Lauras telephoner do to change its emotional climate? Lauras company can try to arrange training and interaction programmes for their employees. Thus, the employees are able to interact with each others and learn to know the suitable ways to express their emotions. communications among the co-workers are very important. The company must allow the criticism from the employees and the employees must take the initiatives to voice up their opinions without hiding their true feelings. One of the ways is by allowing the employees to spe ll out anonymous letter or notes to each other. They can express their positive and negative feelings to the other co-workers. However, the employees must use suitable sentences in the letter so that it does not sound mean. The managers can also improve the employees moods by rewarding the employees for work well done. Positive individuals can also be selected to transmit positive moods to another colleagues in an organisations just like what the text has mentioned.

Exploitation of Teenagers Essay

Our Indian parliamentary law is far better than the rest of the universe from the point of view of culture as well as conventions and ways of dungeon but on the early(a) side, if we glance into our fellowship, it has many loving and political and economical evils such as bride burning, dowry goernance and dowry death, corruption in educational system, problem of illiteracy in India, domestic violence, communalism, injustice, crime against children, unemployment in India, suppression of human rights, impoverishment. Some of the problems have been cast off from its core by the social propaganda and social aw arness and education and on that point argon s savings bank such unanswerable problems which must be removed from the society scarce by and by dint of the individual consciousness.Literature is an echo or reflection of the society and that is why authors have a direct association with the society and its values. They have always been undefeated in the vivid portrayal o f the colourful and well cultured society. At the same time they never hesitate to show a dirty and cheating(a) take in of the same society. One of the major themes in either genres of literature is social issues or problems. If we observe the present Indian society, the major problem that has interpreted place and has been most prevalent in the Indian society as well in the whole globe is the problems of teenagers. Childhood is ane of the greatest and precious periods in human life. It is that phase of life where a child is free from all the tensions, fun-loving, to play and learns new things, and is the most innocent of all the family members. This age of a child or teenager is of enjoying the naughtiness and in any case the time of discipline and making career. If the teenagers work taking the whole familys responsibility instead of learning what will be the future of the nation? The issues relating to the victimization of teenagers should be last on any presidential ter ms agenda. Children should be on the commencement omen on agenda of human resource instruction not lonesome(prenominal) because young children or teenagers are the most armed serviceless but because this age is the understructure of lifelong learning and human development is totally dependent on these crucial early years. The constitution of any teenagers social, emotional, mental minimize is depended on the primary stage of childhood. Children or teenagers are considered as the future of any nation and as the power and muscle of the nation lies in a healthy, protected, educated and well developed child population. Child abuse is covered in secrecy and there is a great conspiracy of silence among all the administrative power around the entire subject. Existing socio- economic conditions also render some children vulnerable and more at risk to abuse, growth and neglect. alto halther the major or minor problems have their root causes from which it stems emerge. The Concept of ExploitationThe awareness of this new phenomenon first emerged several years ago in Latin America, and more special(prenominal)ly in Asia. But the complete understanding of the edge exploitation came into existence after many decades of the races slumber in the form of Karl Marx, the first revolutionary against capitalism and industrialism which are the basic factors of exploitation. He was a revolutionary by personality. He strongly believesThe worker becomes all the paltryer the more wealth he produces, the more his production increases in power and range. The worker becomes an ever cheaper commodity the more commodities he creates. With the increasing value of the world of things upshot in direct proportion to the devaluation of the world of men (Kreis 1).Thus Marx was against industrialism and capitalism that victimize the people through the medium of various instruments yielding exploitations. Marx argued that the change in socio-economic conditions occurred through orga nized revolutionary action. He argued that capitalism would end through the organized actions of an international working class, he did not believe in collectivism to be established he used abide the people to accept reality-an ideal to which we will have to adjust itself. He believes that there are only two communities 1.Abuser and 2. Abused people. Then Came Lenin Vladimir, a Russian Marxist revolutionary and then Stalin came with his own revolutionary thoughts. In India, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar, came into the form of semi-God figure, worshipped by the down-trodden people and untouchables of India. He enriched the lives of exploiting caste by awareness, revolution and by granted them the basic human rights.Gandhiji also completely advocated him his actions to eliminate the wrongs done towards low-caste and work people. Exploitation has a strong relationship with the society as in the society there are many people who are being exploited or manipulated for the benefits of others. The term exploitation of teenagers basically has two meanings. One is to make use of someone for specific purpose whose age is more than twelve and less than twenty, and the second one is to manipulate someone or something in an unjust or cruel manner. In the simplest of words, the term exploitation refers to using another soulfulnesss jab without offering adequate rewards including all kinds of abuses as physical, verbal, emotional, sexual, psychological and mental.Exploitation of Teenagers as Reflected in Mulk Raj Anands inviolable and coolyDr. Mulk Raj Anands two novels Untouchable and Coolie are the real representation of the condition of our society i.e. the phenomenon of exploitation of teenagers. Mulk Raj Anand was a man of realism and the characters of his Novels are more real and universal rather than inwrought i.e. individual. Most of his writings are directly or indirectly investigating deeply the social process. To Anand literature is an expression of society and t he large majority of questions brocaded by him are social questions question of tradition and convention, norms and genres, symbols and myth. Untouchable and Coolie are not only literary pieces became well known which talk astir(predicate) the behavioral pattern of untouchablity and the people strip of socially, culturally, religiously and but because of several exploitations of people including innocent children of that period.Undoubtedly Untouchable is Anands modern work which is the image of his societys trodden and exploited class. This book is considered to be an autobiographical note which came out as a form of his experiences. When Anand was a child, his father was employed as a Subedar in the Indian Army. During those daylights Anand mixed with the children of leather-workers, washer men and sweepers and came across their real daily life and its realities. This association and attachment continued till the days of his youth. Hence this Novel is the authentic document of h is lifes incidents. Untouchable is the story of the depravation of outcaste people and at the same time of the exploitation of teenagers. It basically deals with the different teenagers problems like Bakha, sister Sohini, his brother Rakha and some other his outcastes friends like Chota and Ramcharan we come across during their a days activities.Coolie is also a masterpiece depicting the reality of life. The title is very apt, suitable and reasonable as the story of the Novel revolves round a boy named Munoo, a son of a porter who comes from his village to come out his poverty and works at various places. The peak of darkness of exploitation is expertly depict by the author. The Novel also shows the highest level of inhumanity when little Munoo works at socially, economically, and politically higher classes of Indian society. The Novel shows his adventures and journey of exploitation from servant, grind worker, rickshaw chooser to a child labourer. There is a large difference bet ween social evil and social problem. A definition of a social problem may be suggestive of state of affairs which are not favorable in society and people searching for the applicative cure. On the contrary social evil indicates more complex, threatening and indescribable, may an implication of more realism, a degree of skepticism and gloom whether any revive can be found. In everyday speech, both the terms are often used rhetorically and in substitution. There are many essential and objective elements of social problems. Social problem includes many social forms and all share two authoritative elements an objective social condition and a immanent social condition. The objective element of a social problem refers to the existence of a social condition. Generally we learn about social condition through our own life experience, through the media and education. The subjective element of a social problem refers to a individualal belief and view that a particular social situation is ha rmful to the society or to a segment of society, it should and can be changed. We can take an example for illustration. We know that poverty, racism, violence, pollution, crime. They are not considered to be social problems they diminish the quality of human life. Combination of these subjective and objective elements led us to current efforts. Every individual needs to take go in order to make the nation a better place to live in.Mulk Raj Anand is considered to be God or Messiah in backward castes and exploited class just because of his brilliant works which describe down-trodden and poor Indias social, political, and cultural conditions. The Novels Untouchable and Coolie, which communicate the abuses of an exploited class- an untouchable boy in Untouchable and a waif, Munoo in Coolie. Untouchable and Coolie are the only Novels in which Anand has presented the realistic picture especially problems and exploitations of teenagers of the early decades of 20th century in India to sp lit up the social background with the unique observation of social reformer. Anand has not presented the teenage character in particularly but in a general way. The generator has not only painted his works with the idea of keeping his literary pieces mirror up to the Indian society but also made it required to think about the masses, about the sufferers and abused people and provided ideal solutions.Untouchable and Coolie are legendary stories of two teenagers Bakha and Munoo, appear among the people of the modern society to tell their problems, abuses and exploitations they endured. Bakha and Munoo are the symbolic representatives of the whole teenage class of the present day who give a voice to the predicament of the mute humanity in odd circumstances. Anand has not presented the adolescent characters in particularly but in a general way.Like G.B.Shaw, Mulk Raj Anand is considered to be a great thinker and reformer of the society. He succeeded in doing so by disturbing his read ers putting the puzzle-like problems before the society like Shaw and never put a solution of a particular problem. No writer before Charles had handled the English people, similarly no Indo-English writer before Annad has devoted a strong sympathy to the poor, exploited class and overlook part of the society. The underdog protagonists Bakha and Munoo in both the Novels seem to sail in the same boat as far as personal and subjective suffering and exploitation is concerned. There is a parallel central theme in Untouchable and Coolie social exploitation, exploitation of the poor and the under-privileged class by the forces of capitalism, industrialism and colonialism. In Anands Coolie, Munoo is denied his fundamental rights to life and happiness and is exploited and made to suffer, till he dies of consumption. The Novelist makes it quite clear that Munoo is not the only victim of such exploitation. He represents millions of those for whom such exploitation is the lot of everyday life .Both these Novels have been written with a purpose. These Novels are powerful condemnation of modern capitalistic Indian society and feudalistic system with the shameless and tragic exploitation of the underdog and poor which is also ready to release the poor teenagers and children who face the difficulties without protest. Both the protagonists desire to live but the society does not allow them to live. They die of exploitation, poverty and hunger. Thus, only a undivided problem that has attracted the attention of most of the writers, philosophers and administrators is the only exploitation of teenagers which can be mathematical to eradicate of this planet only through application of more possible improvements that can be beneficial for the teenagers. One of the help oneselfful components is education which can help in relieving this major evil in the society. In the first Novel Untouchable we can rightly observe that Bakha became a victim of the society who has high aspiratio ns of life which have been suppressed not only the customs and traditions but also by the dirty politics and Government. Bakha is seen, saved by the man emerged out in the end of the Novel like a real God in the form of Gandhi who has started the remedial works of the society not by the classic talks and philosophies but by the real implementation of the ideas he has. However in the real life who will be a benefactor person of these downtrodden and exploited people. This is a total responsibility of the Government and administrative people who are observing and enjoying the joyful moments just like an audience of a funfair that need a complete meditation on this particular subject to take reforming steps in relation to this harsh reality. In the second Novel Coolie we can notice the same anguish scenario but with a different view.Munoo, hero of the Novel reveals real social conditions but not through a single day of his life but through the full-fledge life that might be a great t rick of the writer not only to develop the discourse of the character of poor Munoo, but the silence and mum that is still prevalent and ever last among the heartless and unkind society as well as the administrative people even after the death of an innocent boy Munoo. This is not a single teenage boy who lives a hell-like life, is sacrificed on the altar of social treatment and Governments indifference towards this burning social dilemma but there are many teenagers sacrifice themselves in the same manner which can create a shocking result which is merely unimaginative for the whole globe.PovertyPoverty is considered to be the first and foremost root cause of being exploitation of the teenagers. Poverty is one of the major issues, attracting the attention of sociologists and economists. It is such a situation in which a person fails to maintain a living standard adequate for a comfortable lifestyle. Poverty plays a significant role in the formation of public polity and has a centr e of attraction to the National Policy Agenda forever five decades. Though India boasts of a high economic growth it is shameful that there is still large scale of poverty in India.Poverty in India can be defined as a situation when a certain section of people are unable to fulfill their basic needs. India has the worlds largest count of poor people living in a single country. Out of its total population of more than 1 billion, 350 to 400 million people are living below the poverty line. Nearly 75% of the poor people are in rural areas, most of them are daily wagers, landless labourers and self employed house holders. The same scenario of anguish as presented in the Novel can be seen in the present societyThe outcastes colony was a group of mud-walled houses that clustered together in two rows.there lived the scavengers, the leather-workers, the washer men, the barbers, the water- carriers, the grass-cutters and other outcastes from Hindu society. A brook ran near the lane, once wi th crystal- clear water, now soiled by the dirt and filth of the public latrines situated about it, the ordour of the hides and skins of departed carcasses left to dry on its banks, the dung of donkeys, sheep, horses, cows and buffaloes heaped up to be made into fuel cakes, and the biting, choking, pungent fumes that oozed from its sides (Anand 1).Social divisionThis great impact major problem of the society came into existence when the Hindu society has been divided. That is why it is the main root or origin of this problem. Hindu society has traditionally been categorize into four classes, called Varnas the Brahmins, the Kshatriyas, the Vaishyas, and the Shudras. The first belonging to this Varna is called Brahmanas. Their function is to learn and to make share of the learning and to preserve the eternal knowledge of the race. The Brahmins are devoted to their works of statement and preaching. Kshatriya is the one who belongs to Kshatra varna. This is the forms the military de fense group, the martial class and administration of the society. They contain administrative and wielding political power and ruled the states. The Vaishyas are divided into the category of farming and business and that is the reason why they were pre-occupied with the works of selling goods to the others. Vaisya is the creative class of the society, and their primary occupations are trading and business and they are called merchants. Shudra is the lowest in the traditional four-section division in the Hindu caste system. The Shudras have classically lived lives of service. Slaves were often classified as Shudras, as were leatherworkers, blacksmiths, maids, cooks, and so forth. They have typically not been accorded the same rights as higher castes, forced to use different temples and public facilities. Thus the Gita declares The work of the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Sudras is divided according to qualities born of their own inner nature (Wikipedia 1).Some relieving soluti onsCommon education systemEvery child and citizen of India is eligible to get equal type of education. As we know parallel education system created by upper class and the rich people but limited to these classes only. We can say that this system is totally based on class and caste. Kothari armorial bearing (1964-66) has presented the common school education system both for the poor and rich people. Almost all political leaders, upper class administrators support this system. But the micro children and teenagers are sent to the private schools and English medium schools that charge high fees which are not affordable for the poor, down trodden and exploited class. It is very noticeable that incomplete State Government nor the cardinal Government has succeeded to cease these schools and will not dare for the same in the future also. Although the Government has opened a number of schools for the underprivileged and exploited class, how many benefits they got still now? The Government runs schools for the poor people like Bakha and Munoo but practically failed to make the major part of the deprived people educated. The reason also may be a lack of awareness among the down trodden people or a lack of Government policy. In one of the incidents of the novel Untouchable, we can observe that Bakha, at the British Barracks, shows his extreme wish of being educated to his uncle and he also weeps for it. His father tells him that schools and education institutions are made for the sahibs only not for the downtrodden and exploited class. In this way, we can rightly observe the lack of common education system at the time of British still continues today also. The same education discrimination is prevalent in the recent age.It is very clear that the upper class and rich people who are the holders of high degrees and well educated come in contact with the poor and exploited class and impose them to be abused. Because they are all illiterate and do not have degrees for gettin g good jobs just like the high class people which pathetic circumstances after all direct them to a single path of leading life and that is exploitation alone. The problem of social, economical and educational inequality can be solved only when the Government takes over the management of all the non-governmental schools by making necessary laws in this connection. In the near future if it is not done, the problem of inequality in all the lawsuit will remain same as present time. There is an intimate kinship between education and life. Education is the one tool that can drive one from the world of several exploitations and abuses to the world of equality.* Incentives to needy families to send their children to school regularly till they reach the age of 17 or 18. * Pre-metric and post-metric scholarship plan for children of families employed in occupations such as scavenging. All children of such families, regardless of incomes, will be covered by the scheme. * Provision of remedial courses to improve their sphere and prospect for further education. * The recruitment of teachers from the low-castes who are being the target of exploitations. * Increasing of residential schools, including ashram schools should be established in a large numbers so that the parents can take care of their children very well.* The curriculum of education should be designed by keeping an eye on both rich and poor classes and as a device to encourage children and teenagers to get educated. * To provide them an education loan of a small amount without a single penny interest which provides in muster to make their children educated and employed. * The state should not discriminate against any citizen on the basis of religion, caste, race, sex by keeping in sound judgment traditions and customs at school or colleges or any institution of learning. * Primary and secondary should provide education irrespective of cast and creed.Anti-poverty programmesThe most important component of elim inating of the exploitation of teenagers is the socio-economic and anti-poverty programmes meant for the families socially and economically handicapped ready to sacrifice their children only for monetary significance. Gujarat is one of the most growing states of India now-a-days. Though the state is development in all the directions, it is facing much more problems simultaneously one of them is poverty. The Chief Minister of this state launched state-wide Abhiyan of Garib Kalyan Mela from Amreli which is the first major step taken in the whole India to reduce poverty. It has been announced of organizing around 50 Garib Kalyan Mela across the State, providing economic assistance to the poor and marginalized people. One of its essential objectives of this programme is to provide financial help which is the source of all the harms of the exploited and deprived people. Nearly forty thousand people, including slum dwellers and citizens Below Poverty Line (BPL) of Visnagar under this prog ramme attained a full economical assistance at the Garib Kalyan Melo. However, the elimination or eradication of the poverty in India has not reached to a definite estimated level because of indifference of Central Government of India towards the reality of poverty. Such programmes related to poverty must be organized nationally to bend each state in these activities. Central Government of India totally failed to be conscious of the severe conditions of poverty. Present central Government need to be sensitized the administration so that such programmmes can get a start to lead actives and inspiration which have already started in a single state or two.In short, the schemes or programmes for reducing poverty as considered the first and primary source exploitation should be introduced and updated time to time by the central Government. On one side children and teenagers are considered to be the power and strength of the near future. On the other side, this social evil of exploitation i s increasing day by day and taking its magnitude form. The day will come when half population of the children and teenagers will be exploited in India and these situations will create a great obstacle in the development of the nation. Therefore everyone should admit this harsh reality which cannot be cast off from its root unless and until the government is awake and show seriousness.ReferencesAnand, Mulk. Untouchable. Monsoons in India

It involves clearing a patch of timbre gain, but retaining reusable trees and plant varieties, cultivating it for two to three years and then abandoning it for 10-20 years to allow the natural quality to grow back and the soil to regain its fertility. The cycle of cultivation, deviation it fallow and coming back to it for cultivation, is called the Jhum cycle. Traditionally, a village community owns/controls the forest knowledge base and decides on such rotational cultivation pattern. Thus the community cultivates estate of the realm for its livelihood while practising conservation and taking care of the ecological balance. However, with the population pressure, communities wanting to grow more food nominate cleared greater chunks of forest backgrounds and returned to the fallow plots much sooner than 10-20 years. The length of the fallow phase between two successive cropping phases has come down to even two to three years in some places. This has resulted in soil degradatio n, fall in yield, lower returns, and reduction in green cover. It is this change in traditional hold, arising out of changing conditions, that has given jhum agriculture a bad name.Separately, forests are being exploited for timber and hills are being flattened for soil and stones. Often, this denuding of the forest too is diabolical upon jhum cultivation. The state government has come out with various schemes to provide the jhumais with alternate means of livelihood and wean them away from jhuming. However the needs of the jhum cultivators have not been assessed rightly and these schemes have met with limited success or have completely failed. It is important to state here that shifting cultivation should not be busted with slash-and-burn.Slash-and-burn is a mere land clearing method used by many people around the globe to open up forest land and use it for permanent agriculture. On the contrary, shifting cultivation is an integrated farming system involving forestry, agricultu re and strong social organisation on the part of the communities. Ecologically, the practice of jhum has a deleterious kernel on the local environment, while others have often thwarted those arguments and turn out that jhum in fact is a sustainable mental strain of agricultural production scoop suited for the specific ecology of the hill regions. The arguments against jhum have included projecting it as an unsustainable practice that depletes the soil of nutrients, reducing the forest cover, causing landslides, etc. Arguments against jhum have come from state forestry departments, development ministries like DONER (Development Of North East Region) or trade promoting entities like the World Bank who sway towards utilisation of the regions forest resources for the benefit of national and private capital. In addition, private entities wishing to utilise the land for specific profit-making ventures, like extraction industries, utilise these arguments to resist the state to wean awa y local villagers from practicing jhum in order to lease the land. This has happened in the hill regions of Meghalaya and Assam where corrupt or otherwise, village councils leased out land to private and national corporations for extraction industries including coal, limestone, and uranium in the future. In addition, the paper industry has pushed for the growth of bamboo by villagers as a cash crop substitution an egalitarian cultivation system with one that has created a small mercantilist category controlling all bamboo production. However, these arguments have been rebutted by many scientists, including studies by organisations like the Indian Institute of Science, Tata Energy Research Institute and UNESCO who have proved in different ways that jhum is indeed a sustainable form of agriculture best suited to the rainy hill regions of Northeast India, over other forms of agriculture such as valley or terrace cultivation.Studies have further proved that, contrary to arguments of so il infertility, the practice of jhum ensures that fallowness in the soil is not compromised on, and often rapid regeneration of the botany takes place once a tract of land is abandoned after cultivation. CLIMATE CHANGE modality Change & its Impact on India India, the seventh largest country in the world and the secondly largest in Asia, has a total geographical area of 329 Mha, of which only 305 Mha is the reporting area (the area as per the land records of villages and towns). The mainland stretches from 8 4 N to 37 6 N and 68 7 E to 97 25 E. It has a land frontier of 15,200 km and a coastline of 7,516 km. India, the seventh largest country in the world and the second largest in Asia, has a total geographical area of 329 Mha, of which only 305 Mha is the reporting area (the area as per the land records of villages and towns). The mainland stretches from 8o4 N to 37o6 N and 68o7 E to 97o 25 E. It has a land frontier of 15,200 km and a coastline of 7,516 km. In developing countries like India, climate change could represent an additional stress on cological and socioeconomic systems that are already facing tremendous pressures due to rapid urbanization, industrialization and economic development. With its huge and growing population, a 7500-km long densely populated and sea-level coastline, and an economy that is closely tied to its natural resource base, India is considerably vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The various studies conducted in the country have shown that the surface air temperatures in India are going up at the rate of 0. 4oC per hundred years, particularly during the post-monsoon and winter season.Using models, they predict that mean winter temperatures pull up stakes increase by as much as 3. 2oC in the 2050s and 4. 5oC by 2080s, due to Greenhouse gases. Summer temperatures will increase by 2. 2oC in the 2050s and 3. 2oC in the 2080s. Extreme temperatures and fondnessing spells have already become common over Northern India, of ten causing loss of human life. In 1998 alone, 650 deaths occurred in Orissa due to heat waves. Climate change has had an effect on the monsoons too. India is heavily dependent on the monsoon to meet its agricultural and urine needs, and also for protecting and propagating its rich biodiversity.Subtle changes have already been noted in the monsoon rain patterns by scientists at IIT, Delhi. They also warn that India will experience a decline in summer rainfall by the 2050s, summer rainfall accounts for almost 70% of the total annual rainfall over India and is crucial to Indian agriculture. Relatively small climatic changes can spend a penny large water resource problems, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions such as northwest India. This will have an impact on agriculture, drinking water and on generation of hydro-electric power.Apart from monsoon rains, India uses perennial rivers, which originate and depend on glacial melt-water in the Hindukush and Himalayan ranges. Since t he melting season coincides with the summer monsoon season, any intensification of the monsoon is probably to contribute to flood disasters in the Himalayan catchment. Rising temperatures will also contribute to the raising of snowline, reducing the capacity of this natural reservoir, and increasing the risk of cremate floods during the wet season. Increased temperatures will impact agricultural production.Higher temperatures reduce the total duration of a crop cycle by inducing early on flowering, thus shortening the grain fill period. The shorter the crop cycle, the lower the yield per unit area. A trend of sea level rise of 1 cm per decade has been recorded along the Indian coast. Sea level rise due to thermal expansion of sea water in the Indian naval is expected to be about 25-040 cm by 2050. This could inundate low lying areas, down coastal marshes and wetlands, erode beaches, exacerbate flooding and increase the saltiness of rivers, bays and aquifers. Deltas will be thre atened by flooding, erosion and salt intrusion.Loss of coastal mangroves will have an impact on fisheries. The major delta area of the Ganga, Brahmaputra and Indus rivers, which have large populations reliant on riverine resources will be affected by changes in water governances, salt water intrusions and land loss. Increase in temperatures will result in shifts of lower altitude tropical and subtropical forests to higher altitude temperate forest regions, resulting in the extinction of some temperate vegetation types. Decrease in rainfall and the resultant soil moisture stress could result in drier teak dominated forests replacing sal trees in exchange India.Increased dry spells could also place dry and moist deciduous forests at increased risk from forest fires. Medical Science suggests that the rise in temperature and change in humidity will adversely affect human health in India. Heat stress could result in heat cramps, heat exhaustion, heal stroke, and damage physiological fu nctions, metabolic processes and immune systems. Increased temperatures can increase the range of vector borne diseases such as malaria, particularly in regions where stripped temperatures currently limited pathogen and vector development. as one of the outset in Asia to recognize the effectiveness of the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) model in promoting exports, with Asias first EPZ set up in Kandla in 1965. With a view to thrash the shortcomings experienced on account of the multiplicity of controls and clearances absence of world-class radical, and an unstable pecuniary regime and with a view to attract larger foreign investments in India, the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) polity was announced in April 2000.This policy intended to polish off SEZs an engine for economic growth supported by quality infrastructure complemented by an attractive fiscal package, both at the Centre and the sound out level, with the stripped possible regulations. A number of meetings were held in various move of the country both by the Minister for Commerce and manufacture as well as senior officials for this purpose. The Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, was passed by Parliament in May, 2005 which received Presidential assent on the 23rd of June, 2005.The draft SEZ Rules were widely discussed and put on the website of the Department of Commerce offering suggestions/comments. Around 800 suggestions were received on the draft rules. A fter extensive consultations, the SEZ Act, 2005, supported by SEZ Rules, came into effect on 10th February, 2006, providing for drastic simplification of procedures and for single window clearance on matters relating to primordial as well as state governments. The main objectives of the SEZ Act are (a)generation of additional economic activity (b)promotion of exports of goods and services c)promotion of investment from domestic and foreign sources (d)creation of employment opportunities (e)development of infrastructure facilities It is expected that this will trigger a large flow of foreign and domestic investment in SEZs, in infrastructure and productive capacity, take to generation of additional economic activity and creation of employment opportunities. The SEZ Act 2005 envisages key role for the State Governments in Export Promotion and creation of cogitate infrastructure. A Single Window SEZ approval mechanism has been provided through a 19 member inter-ministerial SEZ Board of Approval (BoA).The applications duly recommended by the respective State Governments/UT Administration are considered by this BoA periodically. All decisions of the Board of approvals are with consensus. The SEZ Rules provide for different minimum land requirement for different class of SEZs. Fate and Predestination in Moby Dick Essay

Fate and predestination are two entirely different themes found in Herman Melvilles Moby hammer. Fate and predestination are not one and the same. Although most people might unwittingly use the terms interchangeably, there is a very real and distinct difference. Fate is determined by man, and is the end result of a free will snatchion. In Moby Dick, Ahabs free will and whimsey that he is driven by destiny determines his own fate, the fate of his crew, and results in the inevitable destruction of the Pequod.Melville frequently uses symbolism to indicate the existence of fate. The Pequod itself is a symbol of the ill-fated journey to conquer the great clean-living colossus. On the other good deal, predestination is a theological doctrine in which God predetermines the outcome of any even outts. One assumption of predestination is that God will save some souls while condemning others to timeless damnation. If that distinction is made and held to be true, then fate leaves open the possibility that free will by man exists, while predestination eliminates it alone together. And, freewill is important in setting the many multiplex themes in Moby Dick. Moby Dick is enjoind by a navigateor known only as Ishmael. The explanation opens phone me Ishmael. Some years agonever mind how considerable preciselyhaving little or no money in my purse, and naught particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and inflict the watery part of the world. It is a management I turn over of driving off the spleen, and regulating the circulation.Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear or every funeral I meet and especi solelyy whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodicall y knocking peoples hats offthen, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I stub. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword I quietly restrain to the ship. This long passage tells the reader all that is needed about Ishmael. First, hes educated and intelligent. by chance he is a teacher. He talks about whaling ships being his Yale Col tholee and Harvard . So, Ishmael is qualified to act as narrator for the tale. He is also philosophical. Throughout the story Ishmael reflects on bread and exactlyter aboard the Pequod. He also delves into all sorts of academic subjects as well as theology, free will, morality, destiny and fate. However, Ishmael isnt sacking to sea to find himself. In fact, he believes all men on whaling ships are lost.Whaling is an inherently dangerous occupation, so taking a berth aboard a whaling ship is Ishmaels attempt to commit suicide. Ironically, he survives. Ahab and Ishmael are opp osites of each other. Ahab dies and Ishmael lives. Essentially, Ishmael is needed to narrate the story because he is the opposite of Ahab who is driven by what he believes to be predestination. Ishmael is trying to restore water his own fate by killing himself. But, he is still more philosophically grounded than Ahab. For example, in Chapter 96 Ishmael has an image about daydreaming and suicide There is a wisdom that is woe just now there is a woe that is madness. And there is a Catskill eagle in some souls that provide resembling dive down into the blackest gorges, and soar out of them again and become invisible in the sunny spaces. And even if he for ever flies within the gorge, that gorge is in the mountains so that even in his final swoop the mountain eagle is still higher than other birds upon the plain, even though they soar. He can see both the literal as well as the metaphorical meaning in this image. Ahab cant make the distinction. Ishmael has been to sea before and i snt driven by fate, but he does know whaling is a dangerous business in which injury and death can occur. So, through an act of free will he is tempting his own fate. However, Ishmael in the course of his narrative does make many references to fate. As described, the whaling vessel Pequod is a symbol of doom. Gloomy, black and adorned with whale teeth and bones, the Pequod is a floating coffin named after a Native American tribe that didnt survive long after the Europeans arrived in North America. It should be noted that there are times in the story when Ishmael disappears for long stretches and replace by soliloquies often delivered by Captain Ahab.Ahab is the one-legged captain of the Peqoud. From the time his leg is bitten off by a whale during a previous journey, he has pursued the huge sporty whale. Moby-Dick is Ahabs nemesis which is mis beneathstood, mysterious, and difficult to interpret. But Ahab attempts to do just that his efforts are futile and eventually fatal. In fact, Ahab interprets the whale as being the physical incarnation of evil living in the world and believes against habitual sense that he can defy the natural world and destroy the whale. All that most maddens and torments all that stirs up the lees of things all truth with malice in it all that cracks the sinews and cakes the brain all the subtle demonisms of life and thought all evil, to crazy Ahab, were visibly personified, and made practically assailable in Moby Dick. He piled upon the whales white hump the sum of all the general rage and hate felt by his whole race from Adam down and then, as if his chest had been a mortar, he burst his tropic hearts shell upon it. This quote, from Chapter 41 indicates that Ahab lacks the ability to beneathstand the world around him.Ahab cant see that the loss of his leg is a result of his dangerous occupation, but, only sees it as evil persecuting him. As a result, he believes it is his inescapable destiny to destroy the evil. And, this soliloqu y from Chapter 37 shows Ahabs over confidence and belief that he is predestined to destroy the whale. Come, Ahabs compliments to ye come and see if ye can swerve me. Swerve me? ye cannot swerve me, else ye swerve yourselves man has ye there. Swerve me? The path to my fixed blueprint is laid with iron rails, whereon my soul is grooved to run.Over unsounded gorges, through the rifled hearts of mountains, under torrents beds, unerringly I rush Naughts an obstacle, naughts an angle to the iron way Ahab does several other things in this passage as well. First, he is attempting to inspire his crew to help him in his quest. Finally, and more importantly, Ahab he feels he has no control over his deportment. In the end, it is Ahabs irrational behavior and free will, which he very much had control over, that resulted in his death, the destruction of the Peqoud, and demise of the crew. Therefore, predestination had nothing to with the destruction of the ship and crew. Even in his last moments Ahab believed it was predestination that destroyed him. Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale to the last I grapple with thee from hells heart I stab at thee for hates sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool and since neither can be mine, let me then tug to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whaleThus, I give up the spear Ahab curses the whale and his fate as he is going under. Moby Dick disappears and everyone goes under except Ishmael. Moby Dick is a complex tale with too many themes and intricacies to delve into in just four pages. However, it would take aim been very difficult to narrate the story any differently than what Melville did. Ahab didnt understand fate or predestination. Yes, he believed he was predestined to conquer evil, but that was only because his view of the world was so literal, he couldnt see it any other way.If he did have a clearer view of life and t he world, he would have seen that losing his leg was an occupational hazard and would never went have gone off on a monomaniacal quest in the first place. Right up until the moment he started to go under the water, Ahab couldnt see how his own risks could lead to his death, and he didnt believe he would ever recede his quest to kill the whale and eradicate evil. Ishmael knew the risks involved from the very beginning of the voyage. That was his motivation for going on the journey. So, man created the twist of fate that allowed Ishmael to survive and Ahab to perish.
